Guidelines, Recommendations and Instructions for Organizing Decentrala's Events

If you have visited some of our events, liked what we do and how we work, and want to make a presentation, then we hope that this document will help you with that.

Announcement

One of the first principles of Decentrala is transparency, so information about your event should be publicly available on our platforms. If you want to make your universal LDAP account for all our services, with which you can log in to the forum (LDAP option with a previously created account) or to the public group on XMPP:

You can then create a new thread on the forum with the event name and description, or message everyone on the XMPP public channel decentrala@conference.dmz.rs. Alternatively, email: dmz@dmz.rs.

It's normal to wait a couple of days for people to leave comments on events. If everything goes well and you gain interest of the community, in further aragements, you can choose any available time-frame in Decentrala's schedule.

Criteria

Topic and Description

The theme of the event should center around the values of decentralization, privacy, security, and open-source software. In essence, it should reflect the statute and the guiding principles of Decentrala. If any aspect of the theme contradicts these ideals, it would be important to consult with fellow members. Naturally, other topics that align with our values are also warmly welcomed.

For a deeper understanding of our principles, we invite you to explore the ongoing document: The Roots of Decentrala's Ideology. For now, only available in Serbian language.

In Decentrala, we are unwavering advocates for free and open-source software. Our mission is to develop, use, and share knowledge about FOSS alternatives. If we oppose proprietary software, it would be contradictory to promote such solutions within Decentrala. Should you need assistance in discovering viable alternatives, feel free to reach out to members directly via XMPP or on the forum.

Duration

One hour is a good length, two hours is a good rough limit. For shorter talks, we hold regular Lightning Talks where people speak for about 15 minutes each (no planning or announcement required).
